EA Play is EA's gaming subscription that grants a library of games to play and member discounts, and cancelling it means ending the recurring charge through your EA Account rather than through the game client. The trap that catches people is the refund name: EA advertises a "Great Game Guarantee," but that policy covers game purchases only — it does not apply to EA Play subscriptions, so members who expect a subscription refund under that name are out of luck.
Our Friction Score puts EA Play at 5.1/10 (Moderate). The friction is less about the steps and more about the channel split: where you cancel and where you can get money back both depend on where you originally paid, and those two paths do not always line up.
To cancel, sign in at myaccount.ea.com and open Subscriptions & Memberships, then turn off the EA Play renewal. If you bought the subscription through Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox, the EA Account page will not control it — you must cancel in that platform's own subscription settings instead. Once cancelled, your access to the game library ends when the current period does, and you keep everything you already paid for up to that date. You can resubscribe anytime.
Cancel before the renewal date to stop the next charge. Do not count on a refund for EA Play itself: the subscription is non-refundable, and the Great Game Guarantee will not help. The one exception is EA Play Pro — if you upgraded, the unused portion of that upgrade may be refunded. If you paid through a platform store, the platform's own refund rules apply, so check Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox policy separately rather than assuming one rule covers all. Since access simply ends at period end, there is nothing to export — but make sure you finish any in-progress play before the cutoff.
